Editorial
In the Editorial Department, we’re the book ends of the film. We begin in pre-production and end with the final cut. In pre-production, our Story Department sends us cut panels so we can have a feel for how the shots are going to play out. We’ll record temporary dialogue from our in-house talent to see what kind of acting we're looking for in the film, and get ideas of which actor we would desire to play a certain part.

Once we cast the actors we’ll begin multiple recording sessions. Here, with the help of the script and the Director, the actors will become our characters. We call this “production dialogue” and we’ll insert it over our temporary dialogue. At this time the shot or sequence is moving forward in the production pipeline and the Layout department is already building sets.

We continually work with Story, Layout, and Animation to make multiple versions of shots and sequences for review and approval. During this constant cycle we are creating sound effects, inserting temporary music, revising dialog, and cutting in new storyboards, layouts, and animation. In Editorial, flexibility is the key. The process of making an animated film is very creative, and what was law an hour ago might not be law an hour later.

After a couple of years of hard work and perseverance, the film is ready to go to post production, where we insert the final sound effect mix, dialogue and complete score. Our greatest reward comes once we transfer the movie to film, when the audience can finally enjoy what we have poured our hearts into for so long.
